Born in Oakland, CA on July 29, 1914. Staschen began painting at age five and remained self-taught except for a brief period at the CSFA and CCAC. During the 1930s, while married to artist Val W. Julian, she did lithographs for the Federal Art Project and assisted Bernard Zakheim in his Coit Tower mural and Richard Ayer in his Maritime Museum mural. After her marriage to Frank Triest, she lived in Woodacre and San Rafael, CA. She died in the latter on Nov. 26, 1995. Exh: GGIE, 1939. In: SFMA.
