Biography Sidney Noyes Riggs
Sidney Noyes Riggs was a Renaissance* man, born in New Jersey in 1892. He is most remembered for his linoleum block* prints and woodcuts* of the Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod and Nantucket areas in the tradition of the famous Provincetown woodblock printers.
Riggs worked as an experimenter for Thomas Edison, and later as an educator. He graduated from Syracuse University and obtained a doctoral degree from New York University.
He was a published author of Arrows & Snakeskin, Lippincott 1962, and The Dukes Intelligener, 1960 Dukes County Historical Society, Edgartown. He also worked as a school principal.
