Biography Simon Peter Tilemann
Simon Peter Tileman (1601-ca. 1667/70/88), also called ‘Schenck’ or ‘Tilemann-Schenck’ was
born in Lemgo and settled with his family to Bremen in 1614. After
sojourning in the Netherlands, the Rhineland, Bohemia and Italy he
settled in Bremen in 1633, painting portraits, but also some allegorical
scenes. In addition, he created copper engravings.
Works of the painter
can be found at the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Kassel, the Hermitage in
St. Petersburg, and the Kunsthalle Bremen. (cko)
