Sol Schwartz was active/lived in New York, New Jersey, California.  Sol Schwartz is known for painting, teaching, drawing, camouflage art.

Biography   Sol Schwartz

Sol Schwartz was born May 3, 1899 in Newark, NJ.  Soon after, his family moved to Brooklyn, New York where he lived the rest of his life.

Schwartz started drawing at an early age and after serving briefly in World War 1 as a camouflage artist, he began his formal art studies at the Pratt Institute and at the Art Students League with Raphael Soyer, Georgia O'Keefe, and others.  He was a teacher of art in the New York schools for 37 years, continuing all the time his own works in various media - oils, pastels, drawings, and etchings.  A world traveler, his subject matter included abstracts, landscapes, figure studies, flowers and animals.

His last major project was a group of 40 portraits he called  "People o   ...  Displaying 750 of 1534 characters.
