Little is known of this artist, whose last name has been spelled Schimonsky, Tzschumansky and Schimousky. The Nebraska State Historical Society has a painting by Ad Albrechty, which reportedly is based on a sketch by Schimonsky. One authority describes a man named Tzschumansky who came to Nebraska in 1852, owned a farm near Bellevue, and did artwork. He was the original surveyor of Bellevue.
A resident of Omaha has two paintings by "Schimonsky" and her California sister owns another. A letter signed by the artist was with the Omaha painting and is signed "Schimonsky".
