Stanislas Stückgold (1868-1933)
Born in Warsaw, Stanislas Stückgold studied at the local Polytechnic University and became an engineer. Afterwards, he studied chemistry and philosophy in Zurich and at the Sorbonne in Paris. After military service, he worked in a laboratory in Berlin and later in Düsseldorf. Afterwards, he worked as an engineer in Poland and England, amongst others. In the early 20th century, he began to work as an artist. He studied art in Warsaw and then in Munich. Some years later, he was a student of Henri Matisse in Paris. In 1913, he moved back to Munich. He exhibited at the gallery Hans Goltz in Munich and the gallery ‘Der Sturm’, managed by Herwarth Walden in Berlin. Stückgold also opened a painting school in Muni
