Biography Stuart Carson Edie
A painter and art educator, Stuart Edie was Instructor of Painting at the American Artists School from 1940 to 1951, and at the University of Iowa, 1944 to 1970. Residences included New York City from 1934 to 1952; Iowa City, 1947; and Guanajuato, Mexico, 1973.
He was a student of Thomas Hart Benton at the Kansas City Art Institute, and also was enrolled at the Art Students League in New York.
Memberships included the Woodstock Art Association and the Sawkill Painters and Sculptors.
