Biography   Susan Henningsen

A graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Arizona State University, Susan Henningsen became a sculptor of realistic depictions of figures and portraits. Her most well known work is a larger-than-life size portrait (nine feet high, one-thousand pounds) of Sandra Day O'Connor, United States Supreme Court Justice, for the Maricopa County Courthouse in Phoenix, Arizona.

The work, taking 18 months, was completed in September, 2002. Of this piece, Henningsen said: "I wanted her to be judicial--she's a national treasure-- and I wanted her to be warm, welcoming, and encouraging."
