Living in New York City in 1854 at 49 Walker Street, the same address as Joseph Vollmering, T. Heller was a portrait and figure painter. That information comes from her 1854 painting exhibition entries at the National Academy of Design where her pieces were Portrait of J. Volmering, Hindoo Girl, Theme from Lalla Rookh and Italian Girl. The next year at the Academy she exhibited Roman Lady and Beggar Girl.
