Biography Tran Phuc Duyen
The Vietnamese artist Tran Phuc Duyen graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of his native town. He was commissioned to decorate a folding screens, which was sent by the Vietnamese government on the occasion of the Church's Jubilee Year to Pope Pius XII in 1950.
1954 Duyen moved to Paris, where he continued his education at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. The artist was introduced to a wider French public only after his first exhibition in 1963. Five years later Duyen moved to the Bernese Jegenstorf, where he also ran his own studio. His artistic main activity was the lacquer painting.
