Biography Urs Eggenschwyler
The sculptor and painter U. Eggenschwyler life harbored a great love for lions. He created numerous life-size sculptures for public buildings, including the four lions of the old bridge Stauffacher in Zurich, the lion in the boat harbor Enge, those for the Kirchhoferhaus in St. Gallen, or the bears for the Federal House. For parks and zoological gardens he built artificial rocks at home and abroad.
Since it was him for health reasons not to study his favorites in the wilderness, he taught in 1891 in Zurich-Seebach a private zoo one. He stunned the people by each led a walk with a collar and leash by the Niederdorf his Lieblingslöwin Grete.
