Biography Valerie Clarebout
A painter and sculptor, Valerie Clarebout was born in England and studied at the Royal Academy of Art in London. In 1934, she went to Paris where she enrolled in the Academie Julian. Three years later, she traveled to Buenos Aires and lived there until 1942 when she returned to England and became a volunteer in the Air Defense. After the war, she returned to Argentina to study painting.
In 1949, she moved to France, and in the early 1950s, settled in America where she continued to work as a sculptor.
