Vincent Trasov (1947)
An important Canadian conceptual artist and a leader in the avant-garde community, Vincent Trasov (nee: Vincent Tarasoff) was born in Edmonton, Canada. He grew up and first flourished in Vancouver, Canada. Since 1981 his primary residence has been in Berlin, Germany with occasional visits to Vancouver. Trasov is a co-founder of the Image Bank (now the Morris/Trasov Archive) and the Western Front Society (Vancouver). He first gained wide prominence with his performance as Mr. Peanut (in a Planter’s Peanut costume) an official candidate for Mayor of Vancouver in 1974.
