A painter of portraits and landscapes in acrylic, watercolors, pastels , and oils, she was a life-long resident of the St.Louis, Missouri area.
Schlueter graduated from the art school at Washington University, and married Harry J. Schlueter, a photoengraver. Her work was exhibited at area art galleries and regional traveling shows, winning numerous prices and awards. She was an art instructor at Jefferson Barracks Hospital during World War II, and taught at the Art Center for older citizens in St. Louis in the 1960s. She was a life member of the St. Louis Artists Guild
