Born in Moscow, Russia on Dec. 23, 1903. Nemkoff fled his native land during the revolution and moved to China. In 1927 he settled in San Francisco and enrolled at the CSFA where he was a pupil of Randolph, Macky, Stackpole, and Rivera. During the 1930s he fulfilled commissions for the Federal Art Project. He was active as an artist until about 1950 as a painter (mostly nudes) and sculptor of bas-reliefs and figures in wood and clay. He died in San Francisco on Nov. 7, 1998. Exh: SFAA, 1931.
