Biography Voyle Armstrong
Born in Dobbins, West Virginia, Voyle Armstrong settled in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a painter, illustrator, and newspaperman. He was raised in Indiana, graduating from high school in Bedford in 1911. He attended the Cincinnati Art Academy as a student of Frank Duveneck, Lewis Henry Meakin and James Hopkins and then served as an infantry officer in World War I.
In 1919, he moved to Wichita Falls and worked for 48 years in newspaper advertising and illustration for the "Wichita Falls Times" and the "Wichita Falls Reporter". He also illustrated several short stories and poems and did a weekly column on stamp collecting.
Exhibitions include the Southern States Art League and the Annual Texas Art Exhibition.
