According to family history, Mr. Slee was a boarder in my great grandmother Baxter's house in Boston. He often could not pay in cash, so he paid in paintings. I have inherited the small collection.
The paintings include oils and a few watercolors, mostly landscapes. Eight oils are signed as follows: one is signed "Slee,'" two are signed W. F. Slee, three are signed W. Fc. Slee, one is signed W Fc Slee 07, and one is signed with an S enclosed in a circle. These range in size from 10" by 14" to 18" by 22". The two signed watercolors are signed S enclosed with a circle.
