Biography Walter Goodman
Artist, Walter Goodman, was born in London, England, (May 11, 1838), in 1857 he was accepted to the Royal Academy and also received instruction under J. M. Leigh. In 1864 he accompanied Senor Joaquin Cuadras, a Spanish artist, to the West Indies, living there for five years, most of the time in Cuba. While there he painted and wrote for the New York press. He also contributed to the local press, including a series of humorous sketches entitled "Un Viaje al Estranjero." He was arrested and imprisoned on suspicion of being connected with the Cuban revolution of 1869, and left the island.
