Walter W. Ellison was active/lived in Illinois.  Walter Ellison is known for naive figure, historical-ethnic, Painter, craftsperson, designer.

Biography   Walter Ellison


A painter, designer and craftsman, Walter Ellison was an African-American born in Georgia. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and then established his career in Chicago where he was a member of the United American Artists of Chicago. Exhibition venues in that city included the American Negro Exposition and the South Side Community Art Center.

In 1940, he exhibited work at the Library of Congress, and in 1943 at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
