Painting in the Chinese tradition in ink and color, Wei Dong blends traditional with contemporary elements, creating works with an astounding and often disquieting twist.
After having taught himself the mastery of traditional Chinese painting, he studied western style painting at the university, earning a B.A. degree as well as the Best Graduate Award. Since then, his work has been exhibited around the world.
He began painting on paper, later also using canvas as a basis for his landscapes in the Ming tradition. In the foreground of these landscapes one often finds large figures of androgynous nudes.
