Biography William Hastings
William Granville Hastings was born in Kennington, Surrey, England on August 23, 1868.
He attended the Lambeth Art School, and worked for Doulton at their Lambeth works as a designer and modeler.
He specialized in large and small vases in classical and renaissance styles. He was honored with a Society of Arts first prize for one of his vases in 1889.
In 1891 he immigrated to the USA to work as a designer and sculptor for the Gorham Manufacturing Company in New York. His first task was to design works for display at the World's Fair held in Chicago in 1893.
