The following biography is provided by James S. Hamilton, Jr., researcher of New Jersey artists:

William John Heaslip was born in Toronto, Canada, May 16, 1898. He exhibited an interest in art at an early age and was apprenticed to a lithographer.  Heaslip's other interest was aviation, and when he was old enough, he joined the Royal Flying Corps, serving during World War I.

Following the war, Heaslip came to New York City and began formal art studies at the Art Students League.  He continued his studies at the school of the National Academy of Design where he won the Suydam Medal.

With his art studies complete, Heaslip combined his two loves, painting and aviation and began doing illustration for numerous new   ...  Displaying 750 of 2142 characters.
