Biography William Nelson
William Nelson is the first artist to have a private show in the Senate
Caucus Room, Washington, DC. He was also the recording artist of
the Oglala Sioux Sundance Ceremony at Pine Ridge,
South Dakota. His work was commissioned by Dr. James Gillihan,
Director of Cultural
Preservation, and he was commissioned to paint A Bicentennial
History of the United States 1976 by Bicentennial Administration,
President John Warner.
Nelson was appointed by the U.S. Olympic Committee to complete a series of
paintings depicting the Innsbruck and Montreal Games in 1976 (first
offical artists of the U.S. Olympics)
