A resident both of Boston and New York, William Stone exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

He was born in Brooklyn, January 31, 1842, the son of Rev. John Seeley Stone and Mary Kent Stone, brother of James Kent Stone (Father Fidelis), and grandson of Chancellor James Kent. He also won Honorable Mention at the Paris Exposition in 1898, and died at his home at South Yarmouth (Bass River), Cape Cod, October 27, 1913.
