Biography   Wilma M. Gachupin


Wilma Gachupin was born in Jemez July 30, 1957, the daughter of Lawrence Sando and J. Gonzalez. She is the sister of renowned Jemez storyteller creator Kenny Sando, who taught her the art of making storyteller pottery.

Wilma has been making storytellers since about 1985 and has won a number of awards in pottery competitions throughout the southwest.

She has been working with clay since the age of 28.

Wilma specializes in the natural hand coiled and hand painted storytellers, nativities and corn maidens. Wilma cleans, hand mixes, hand shapes and paints her sculptures using all natural colors.
