Biography   Charles Baker

Likely the father of Charles Baker, 1844-1906, this Charles Baker was a landscape painter who exhibited at the National Academy from 1839 to 1873 and at the American Art Union in 1847. He was one of the founders of the Art League in New York.

---------------------------------------------------------------------Charles Baker is known as one of the many artists who painted in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. New York City directories from 1842 to 1862 list Baker as a saddler, gunsmith, and importer. In 1847 he did silver plating.
