A long-time resident of York, Nebraska, Genevra Grippen Hannis had artistic talents recognized beyond her hometown including listings in several prestigious fine art publications. According to Clara Bucklin’s 1932 booklet, Nebraska Art and Artists, Genevra was a painter and teacher, who studied with “Mrs. Hadley Head” and “Mrs. Edward Thompson” in York, Nebraska, and with “Miss Cameron”, and at the University of Nebraska with “Miss Brock.” (37). Because of the Bucklin reference, Genevra’s name transferred to several other standard American art reference books such as Peter Falk’s, Who Was Who in American Art; Doris Daw   ...  Displaying 750 of 6989 characters.
