Born in Sheboygan, WI on Dec. 2, 1894. Tessin moved to California in 1903. After opting for an art career, she studied at the New York Institute of Art and locally at the CSFA, UC Berkeley, and with Pedro Lemos and L. P. Latimer. She then taught art in the public schools of Napa and Sacramento and at Fresno State College for a few years. By 1929 she had moved to Springfield, MA. She married Olin Roats in 1937 and moved to Wilbraham, MA where she resided until the outbreak of WWII. Returning to California, she died in Napa on June 23, 1962. She specialized in illustrations for children's books and magazines. Murals: Shrine Hospital (Springfield); John Shearer School and Lincoln School (Napa); St Francis Hosptial (SF).
