Adolf Michael Boehm was born on the February 25, 1861 as son of a painter in Vienna and from 1867 onward, attended the Academy of Fine Arts as pupil of Carl Wurzinger, August Eisenmenger and Christian Griepenkerl. In 1880 he joined the Hagenbund. In 1897 he was, together with Gustav Klimt and Joseph Hofmann, one of the founding members of the Vienna Secession, which he, however, left with the ‘Klimt group’ in 1905.
From 1900 onward, Boehm had a teaching position at the art school for women and girls in Vienna. In 1901 he was conducting the editorial board of the magazine Ver Sacrum. From 1910-25 he was professor for natural and nude studies as well as for drawing and shaping after the human figure at t
