Biography Simon Albert Bussy
While Simon Bussy is known primarily for his animal works and his birds in particular, the artist is also a great landscape artist. His first exhibition at Durand-Ruel in 1897 is essentially made up of landscapes, and the artist takes advantage of his many travels to draw on the motif. He thus illustrates, in 1931, the work of Gabriel Hanoteaux on The History of the Egyptian Nation, starting from fifty pastels executed during a trip in Egypt in 1828/1829.
Without doubt realized in the south of France, our Montagne at sunset illustrates the landscape talent of Simon Bussy. The technique of pastel allows the artist to perfectly reproduce the subtle variations of colors that illuminate this mountain touched by the last fires of the sun.
