Biography Hans Fechner
Hans Fechner was a painter from Berlin who studied there at the Academy of
Arts between 1877-1883. He then went to Munich to do further studies as
the master student of Defregger. In 1892 he returned to Berlin to be
named Professor and conservator at the print room (Kupferstichkabinett)
He exhibited more than once at the exhibitions of the Royal
Academy in Berlin and the Great Art Exhibition Berlin between 1883 and
1903. With portraits of nearly all the important people in Berlin,
including Theodor Fontane, Virchow and the Emperor, he became famous
during his lifetime.
He suffered from an unidentified disease that
ruined his eyesight around 1910/15 which forced him to end his pa
