Biography Josef Gassler
From 1912 to 1916, Joseph Gassler attended the Art Academy in Wroclaw and later the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. From 1919 onwards he was honored with numerous awards including the Prix de Rome. He exhibited at the Vienna Secession and showed his works in the Hagenbund.
Between 1925 and 1927, Gassler lived in Paris. He participated in exhibitions in Vienna and at the Salon des Indépendants and was a member of the Vienna Secession.
In Carlsbad he worked as a portrait painter and created occasional porcelain and glass designs for the Moser glass manufactory. During the war he designed frescoes, stage sets, and posters.
