Born 1938 in France, fraktur artist P. Godillot grew up in Manhasset, New York and graduated from Bryn Mawr College. After working for several years in New York City she moved to Montgomery County, Pennsylvania where she became fascinated with the rich colors and fanciful figures of the Pennsylvania Dutch frakturs produced in that area in the 18th and 19th centuries. Although she had no formal art training, she began painting watercolor birds, flowers, hearts and urns in the style of the original frakturs, recreating as closely as possible the authentic techniques and colors of the early fraktur artists.
