Biography Elisabeth Keyser
As a young and loving artist, Elisabeth Keyser traveled to Paris to study painting in 1878. She stayed for more than ten years and gained recognition as few of her female artists. In Paris, Keyser went to school for the renowned artists Leon Bonnat and Gustave-Claude-Etienne Courtois. Her painting was influenced by the time of the new swings in the capital of the art, and she became one of the Swedish impressionists with Carl Trägårdh at the forefront.
Elisabeth Keyser exhibited at the Parisian Hall throughout the 1880s and was the only Swedish woman who received a honorary name. It's in France as her talent blossoms, just like the other Swedes who went there - Julia Beck, Clara Löfgren, Charlotte Wahlström and many more.
