Bob Law

 (1934 - 2004)
Bob Law was active/lived in United Kingdom.  Bob Law is known for painting.

Biography   Bob Law

Bob Law began painting and drawing in the mid 1950s.  By 1957 he was living in St Ives and mixing with artists such as Ben Nicholson and Peter Lanyon.  In 1959 he moved to a cottage in Nancledra, later home to Roger Hilton.  Very little of his work from the 1950s survives due largely to the fact that Law would destroy anything that did not live up to his expectations and would often return to his past to eliminate work he was not happy with.  One watercolour from 1958 (signed 'Robert' rather than 'Bob') that escaped destruction is in the Prints and Drawings Collection at the British Museum and demonstrates a much more painterly style compared to his post 1960 work.
