Biography Helmer Masolle
Erik Helmer MasOlle already decided to become an artist in young years. He was born in 1884 in Björk's city in Siljansnäs parish. The family was poor, but the young Helmer wrote at the age of 17 to the then 25-year-old Anders Zorn to ask for financial help to study in Stockholm. He started his studies at Althins Painting School. In 1903 he was admitted as a student at the Royal Academy. There he studied Cederström, von Rosen and Axel Tallberg, but it was primarily Zorn who was the young artist's source of inspiration.
"The crucial to MasOle's development as a portrait judge and folklore writer became the contact with Zorn, whom he learned during his academic year at the Academy of Sciences."
