Biography Luigi (Ludwig) Ossipovich Premazzi
Luigi Premazzi was born in Milan and studied in Milan where he was taught by G. Milyara and E. Korrodi. In 1839 he began living in Russia and taught many pupils including Princess I. Gagarina in 1840. He soon gained the attention of Emperor Nikolai II, and soon became one of the most popular masters amongst Russian aristocrats in the middle of XIX century.
Starting from 1851 he carried out the orders of the court, together with K. Ukhtomskiy and E. Hau, working on a series of watercolor forms of the halls of the new Hermitage. From 1854 he was an academician of Petersburg AH and in 1861 the Professor of "promising watercolor painting".
