Biography David Rawnsley
Trained as an architect and engineer, he was head of a research group known as Production Facilities (Films) Ltd within the J. Arthur Rank Organization. He invented the Independent Frame as a production economy, testing it's efficiency through his own company, Aquila Films, in 1947. When his films failed to make money at the box office, he abandoned film work, moved to Italy and resumed his work as a potter.
He served in the Merchant Navy during World War II.
He was a painter, oils on canvas, and potter and once ran a studio in Paris. He was also a trained architect and engineer. He began in films as an assistant at Elstree in the early 1920's.
