Ludwig Schwarzer, born in Vienna, Austria, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in
Vienna under the guidance of Karl Sterrer and Josef Jungwirth from 1930
to 1934. He then worked as a freelance artist in Vienna and in Linz.
While his early work is realistic and expressionistic, he began to
produce surrealistic compositions in the trompe-l'oeil technique from
