Biography Eugen Sturm-Skrla
Born in Hungary, Egge Sturm-Skrla was a painter and graphic artist. Between 1907 and 1909, he took private painting lessons with Karl Haunold in Vienna and continued his studies at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts with Rudolf Bacher and Rudolf Jettmar from 1911 to 1914.
He traveled to South Tyrol and Italy, where he learned the fresco techniques with Murr and Bellatti. In 1919, he became a member of the Hagenbund, and in 1921 of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and the 'Neue Vereinigung'.
In 1926, he worked on the frescoes of the Salzburg Playhouse along with Anton Faistauer. From 1929 to 1935, he headed a school for fresco painting in Ronco near Ascona in Switzerland. He then returned to Vienna.
