Alan Wood NDD, RCA (1935 – 2017)
An important western Canadian painter, sculptor, printmaker, muralist and educator, Alan Wood was born on August 3, 1935 in Widnes, Lancashire, England (about 15 miles east of Liverpool). He moved to Canada in 1971 and in 1974 settled in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he lived for the rest of his life and died. He is perhaps most famous for Ranch the largest art installation ever undertaken in Canadian history. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and his works are in over a two dozen museums in Canada, England, Wales, the U.S.A. and Australia. (1)
