Alan Wood NDD, RCA (1935 – 2017)
An important western Canadian painter, sculptor, printmaker, muralist and educator, Alan Wood was born in Widnes, Lancashire, England (about 15 miles east of Liverpool) and moved to Canada in 1971. He settled in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1974, where lived for the rest of his life. He is perhaps most famous for “Ranch” the largest art installation ever undertaken in Canadian history. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts and his works are in over a two dozen museums in Canada, England, Wales, the U.S.A. and Australia. (1)
