Harry Banks was born in London, and educated at Goldsmith's College. In
1902 he moved to Dorset. He also spent part of his time living in
Bristol, while his daughter attended school there. Examples of his
prints of Bristol are held at the City Museum and Art Gallery. He
exhibited widely, at the Royal Academy, Royal West of England Academy,
the Paris Salon and elsewhere 1916-21. His addresses were Thorncombe,
Chard, Somerset, and 1 Royal York Crescent, Clifton, Bristol.
Harry married a Miss Rowntree, whose family owned one of Britain's
biggest chocolate manufacturers. This possibly helped his finances!
Harry was a member of the Chelsea Arts Club, where one of his friends
