Biography Martyn Barratt
Martyn Barratt was born in 1965. He studied wood carving, stone carving, and gilding at London Art School. He also received a MA in architecture at East London University.
His work explores the forms found in fossils, seeds, and shells. He is inspired by the presence and recurrence of these forms in all areas of the natural world.
Barratt's work has been exhibited internationally. Additionally, he has completed commissions for many prestigious clients including the BBC and the Palace of Westminster.
In 1993, he was elected to the Royal Society of British Sculptors. In 1997, he became the director for the Burghley Sculpture Garden.
