Hans Christof Drexel (1886-1979)
Hans Christof Drexel was a German painter who belonged to the expressionist avant-garde artists at the beginning of the 20th century. During his studies of medicine and architecture he was already able to publish his first graphic works in the art nouveau magazine 'Jugend' edited in Munich. Drexel went on study trips to the famous Académie Julian in Paris and around 1908/09 to Rome. The painter was in contact with many important contemporary artists such as Emil Nolde, Henry van de Velde, Henri Matisse as well as with Edvard Munch later.
