Biography Leonidas Drosis
After his birth in 1834 in Tripoli or Nafplion, Leonidas Drosis spent the rest of
his childhood in Athens. In 1847 he began to study at Athens’
Polytechnic Institute, later he entered the Academy, which he continued
until 1855. One of his teachers was Christian Heinrich Siegel, who soon
discovered his talent and supported him. Thus Drosis was able to present
the bust of Andreas Maoulis as early as 1855 at the Paris World
From 1857-61 he continued his studies in Munich. Following
this, he began to travel, visiting Vienna, Dresden, Paris, London and
Rome. In Rome he opened his own studio and learned style and technique
