Petr Sokolov

 (1892 - 1938)
Petr Ivanovich Sokolov was active/lived in Russian Federation.  Petr Sokolov is known for portrait and landscape painting, children's book,magazine illustrations, stage settings.

Biography   Petr Sokolov


Born in Moscow in 1892, he received his initial artistic training at the I L Kopylov art school in Irkurtsk. Sokolov also studied at VKhuTEMAS and under Petrov Vodkin.  He exhibited in America in 1924

Sokolov illustrated children's books and magazines.  Books written by Kornei Chukovsky; Evgeni Shvartz and others. Magazines such as Ezh & Vorobei published by Detgiz.

He worked with and was later imprisoned with Vera Ermolaeva and V V Sterligov.  He was also as close friend of the poet Nikolai Oleinikov. He designed stage sets and costumes for the Bolshoi and Malyi theatres, namely Ruslan & Ludmila, Poor Columbus, Tosca and many others, and was the principal artist at Sverdlovsk Opera The   ...  Displaying 750 of 1081 characters.
