Biography Christo Stefanoff
Christo Stefanoff (1898 – 1966)
A painter, draftsman and muralist, Christo Stefanoff (aka: Professor Christo Stefanoff) was born in Kazanlak, Bulgaria and died in Montreal, Quebec. He immigrated to Canada in 1951 (late December) and settled in Montreal in 1952. He lived and worked in Quebec for the rest of his life; primarily in the town of Val-David (about 60 miles north of Montreal). One of his most famous accomplishments was his one year long (1958 – 1959) restoration of the Paul Philippoteaux Cyclorama of Jerusalem at Ste. Anne de Beaupré (north east of Quebec City), which is still (2016) a tourist attraction. During his life, Stefanoff’s easel paintings were exhibited at Antoine's Art Gallery, Montreal.
