Biography Edouard Zier
Born in Paris, Édouard François Zier received drawing lessons from his father and later was a pupil of the painter and sculptor Jean-Léon Gérôme. He debuted at the Salon of 1874. Zier made illustrations for numerous magazines, including 'Le Rire', 'L'Assiette au Beurre', 'Le Courrier Français' and 'Le Monde Illustré'. He also illustrated books of Rostand, Zola and Dumas.
