Biography Fedor Semenov-Amursky
Fedor Semenov-Amursky was born in eastern Russia in 1902 and began to study and practice art in the 1920s in his hometown Blagovestschensk. From 1925 to 1930, he lived in Moscow, where he continued his studies at the VHUTEMAS (Academy for Art and Technology). In addition, he took painting lessons with A.D. Drevin.
In 1933 he became a member of MOSH (Artists' Association in Moscow) that he had to leave in 1946, because he did not meet the Soviet standards. In 1949 he was able to continue his membership. In 1955 he exhibited at so-called ‘apartment exhibitions’; in 1967, he had his first major solo exhibition in Moscow.
After his death in 1980 his artistic estate was managed by his wife Elizabeth
