Friedrich Heimerdinger

 (1817 - 1882)
Friedrich Heimerdinger was active/lived in Germany, Italy.  Friedrich Heimerdinger is known for still life painting, trompe l'oeil.

Biography   Friedrich Heimerdinger

Born in Altona, Friedrich Heimerdinger studied at the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf under Theodor Hildebrandt (1804-1874), who was a representative of the Düsseldorf School.  From 1842 to 1845, he continued his studies at the Academy in Munich.  Heimerdinger then established a drawing school for painters and sculptors in Hamburg.

His artistic approach of drawing from real models later became a usual practice at German art schools.  Heimerdinger was specialized in animal and still life paintings that were very popular due to their trompe l'oeil effect.  Examples of his works were exhibited, for instance, at the Glaspalast in Munich in 1889.
